The idea

A better interface is not enough.

What if public services worked on the first try? Citizen's answer is one connected record per person that every service reads and updates.

The Citizen Graph

One citizen. Every connected fact.

This is Arjun's record shown as a graph. Identity sits at the centre. Family, work, assets, documents and government history connect around it.

Every result lands back in your record. A payment removes a due amount, creates a receipt and joins the same history that Home shows.

Where design stops

Day 40

A claim can still be pending behind a beautiful status screen.

A better screen cannot clear a backlog.

If the cause is a queue of officers, a policy, limited staff or a department database, a redesign cannot fix it. So Citizen sticks to what a record can do.

An interface cannot

  • Change policy or eligibility rules
  • Add officers or processing capacity
  • Repair a department database
  • Approve a claim waiting on human judgment

What Citizen changes

  • Carry verified evidence into the next service
  • Show the current state and next available action
  • Stop each task from restarting at zero
  • Return receipts, permissions and history to one record

Choose a problem. Watch the graph respond.

This is the Citizen Graph working. Your details are entered once. The right service uses them. Every screen that needs the result gets it.

How to use Citizen

Four screens. One way in.

Home, Records, Services and Benefits all run on the same connected record. The request guide on Home takes you straight into any of them.

  1. 01

    Home

A daily digest of tasks, deadlines, money due, refunds, notices, documents and recent activity. It brings the few things that need attention to the top.

See what changed and what needs action before searching for a service.

  2. 02

    My records

Your documents, family, work, businesses, property, vehicles and history with government, in one connected record.

Correct or reuse a record instead of entering the same facts again.

  3. 03

    Services

Everything this demo can do for the profile you are using, from EPFO and PAN correction to payments and filings.

Know what is possible, what is available now and where to begin.

  4. 04

    Benefits

Eligibility is checked against facts already on your record: age, bank account, residence, business type and documents. Loan comparisons show your dues and pending refunds right beside the numbers.

See suitable schemes and loans at a glance, with missing evidence explained.

Request guide

On Home, describe what you need in your own words. The guide reads only your own records and takes you to the right screen.

Begin with the situation, not a department name or portal menu.

Working proof

One record. Four working demos.

These four demos all work on the same record. Each one reads it, acts on it and shows the result everywhere else in Citizen.

  1. 01Review an EPFO passbook, inspect a contribution and register a grievance.
  2. 02Reuse DigiLocker documents to compare PAN and Aadhaar before a correction.
  3. 03Pay a challan or property tax, file GSTR-3B and keep the resulting receipt or acknowledgement.
  4. 04Complete a shared registration across Arjun and Priya; grant or revoke Sunita’s family access.

Why this matters

The record comes first.

Most redesigns tidy up the same department menu. Citizen puts the person and their record first, and every service reads from it.

  1. 01

    Person first

It starts with what changed in your life: a marriage, a death in the family, a new business.

  2. 02

    Nothing asked twice

Eligibility, warnings and next steps come from the records you already have. No screen asks you to repeat them.

  3. 03

    Working demos

Every demo changes records, creates receipts and adds history. Nothing here is a dead-end mock page.

Start with the person.

Open Citizen, pick a profile and ask what that person needs. The record gives the context. The service gives the next step.
